Calling these Midnight Sun is
"Calling these Midnight Sun is a ruse. As an owner of the original made in USA plates, I was expecting a very close copy. These aren't even close. They are thick and heavy and the slippery finish is cheap and the pattern is sprayed on with no texture. They are black instead of dark brown. These are the quality of a dollar tree plate. So, calling these Midnight Sun is a joke. You have to pay shipping back. . ."

I still love my Midnight
"I still love my Midnight Sun, but I can definitely tell the difference between these and the few original plates that I have left when looking at them from the side in the cupboard. They just aren't as thick and don't seem as sturdy."

Noticeably different from pieces in original 1997 purchase
"I bought these as replacements for pieces I'd lost from a full set purchased in 1997. While they are the same size and shape, I was disappointed to see they are noticeably different from the original purchase. In particular, the scalloped pattern on the rims is printed (flat) with the plate rather than embossed (raised) as the original set. This outsourcing may or may not have any effect on the durability of the pieces, but it is disappointing."
