"Good quality dishes. Love the design. Packaged very well, no breakage when arrived. Shipping was quick."
"Can’t say enough good things about this stoneware set, it’s beautiful and really great quality!"
"I bought this as a gift for my daughter-in-law after she saw my Song Bird fruit bowls and fell in love with them."
"Dishes are nice but definitely not Pfaltzgraff, bought from Pfaltzgraff they were not labeled as another brand. We have had Pfaltzgraff for 25 years and they have held up nicely. These dishes do not feel the same quality. Disappointed that they were sold under false pretenses"
"These are Mikasa, not Pfaltzgraff. That was a disappointment to me because of my loyalty to Pfaltzgraff. With that out of the way, these are really sweet, informal, and loved. I had to adjust my expectations when I received the set. Now that they are adjusted, I'm happy with the purchase. My comments are intended to provide a review that addresses a variety of consumers' expectations. I needed to remember that manufacturing processes have changed and to accept my expectations were unrealistic for the price paid and what I hoped for. I purchased the set while on sale so got a very good deal for having a set that has appearances of artistic dinnerware. Even if not on sale, I'd be happy with the purchase. The pattern is clearly not hand-applied yet the line thickness of the "sketches" differ based on the type of piece, which we would expect on hand-drawn pieces and those differences in line weight would be based on the artist and not on the piece being sketched on. However, the variance is due to manufacturing processes, not artistic elements (other than glaze chemistry. ) Meaning = the bowls are concave, so the applied pattern has thicker lines on the more upright areas and quite faint lines at the bottom of the bowl. For a hand-drawn piece, this would be 100% acceptable, but when the variance is consistent across the pieces of the same function (for instance, all of the bowls, all of the salad plates, etc. ) it's a reminder that these aren't hand-applied. Initially, this was slightly disappointing to me, but I've adjusted that expectation. The other difference is that the pieces with larger flat areas (dinner and salad plates) have blotchiness in the glaze color, resulting in some darker cloudiness. To me, this is part of the beauty of glazed ceramics, and I consider it a mark of uniqueness that gets the pieces closer to being artistic than being manufacturing flaws. If you're looking for something more precise, the blotchiness might upset you. The pieces are bulky (whatever that means to you. To me, it means they are a little thicker than I am used to, so I sometimes misjudge where they are when I'm handwashing and have hit them on other things. No breakage, chips, or cracks yet, but I want to mention it. Yes, I recognize that's a "me" issue. ) They aIso take up more room vertically in my cabinets, so to get to a bowl on my shelf, I can have only four or five stacked b/c I can't adjust my shelf height. This means I can't have all place settings on a single shelf. ) I really love having a rim on the edge of the bowls b/c spillage of soup, for instance, isn't likely going to touch my fingers not escape the vessel as it might in the traditionally-shaped Pfaltgraff bowls. However, the rims take up a lot of space compared to the traditional Pfaltzgraff bowls. I have not used the dinner plates much. They are larger than I need b/c I eat pretty simply and don't like to see a lot of empty space on a huge plate. (I will use either a salad plate or a dinner plate from a different dinnerware set. ) The bowls have been used a lot, also in conjunction with the salad plates in a single meal, which makes the orientation/display of place settings very odd and sometimes awkward (which piece is placed directly in front of the person eating? It requires them to make a conscious decision about how to orient their plate/bowl. The bowls won't fit well on the larger dinner plates to allow much food to be on the dinner plate. But the arrangement will work if having say, pasta in the bowl and wanting bread on a plate. ) The bowls are often larger than I need, too. They are more like "meal bowls" and, in my opinion, not good for breakfast cereal b/c of the urge to put two servings in the bowl instead of one. Watch the capacity and compare to what you have/like so that you know if your full-serving food will look like half-servings in the bowl. I'm really glad that I ordered the fruit bowl set (available separately) b/c although it's sort of a weird shape of bowl (different than I'm used to) they are a much more appropriate size for some of my servings like cottage cheese with applesauce, yogurt, etc. The fruit bowls hold almost the same amount as my old Pfalzgraff bowls that are the shape and size of the Folk Art and similar patterns. The coffee cups feel nice in the hand. I wish they were glazed lighter inside. It's hard to tell how much coffee is in them if black coffee (or tea) is inside. I like to be able to see how much is in the cup b/c I drink slowly and tend to carry the cup around with me from room to room. The 16-piece set shipped to me had no shipping breakage but had some manufacturing defects, but Pfaltzgraff was soooooooo easy to work with and quickly replaced the defective pieces with good ones. No fussing from them; easy to contact; all they needed were photos and an explanation. I'm pleased with the purchase (other than I wish Pfaltzgraff would bring manufacturing back to the US and improve quality control. )"
"Very fun to use!!"
"I ordered service for 8. Both sets had orange peel in the glazed finish. They said I could return it but I have to pay shipping. This is not the Pfaltzgraff quality I have heard about. I was shocked that they actually shipped this out."
"Pretty but so fragile. Already broke one and it was just in a dishwasher. Pathetic quality compared to years ago"
"Beautiful, practical, good quality - just what our Thanksgiving needed."
