Bought these bowls because the regular ones aren't big enough to make oatmeal in the microwave. No overflow with this size. That means I don't have to clean up the bottom of microwave when I make hot cereal for breakfast. Yeah! Haven't tried it for soup. Bought it for oatmeal, and it's perfect.

The deep bowls are a great addition to my collection. I like the fact they are deeper than the regular bowls. Cereal and soup don't spill out over the edge.
