These plates are very nice as part of a Naturewood collection. They don't have any lip, like normal plates. Perhaps that is typical of buffet plates, so other shoppers may have a better idea of what they are getting. I would not allow a child to use this plate. They are a nice size between a salad plate and dinner plate. I like to use these when I have a bowl of soup and a side dish.
