This Farberware stainless steel electronic thermometer with protective cover is great for testing the internal temperature of hamburgers, meat & poultry. Simply insert the thermometer stem about 1" into the thickest part of the meat or poultry so the tip is slightly past the center, but not in contact with bone or gristle. Press the red button once -- display will turn on. Has an automatic shut-off/battery saver and included protective cover for safe storage. Also includes a spare battery. Wipe clean with a damp cloth, grease or other hard to remove soil can be removed with a scouring pad. Not dishwasher safe.

We purchased this for use on Thanksgiving Day. I can't speak to how accurately the thermometer reads because I was never able to use it: The battery cap was impossible to remove, so I couldn't install the battery. Doesn't Farberware test this kind of thing before foisting it on unsuspecting consumers who wind up getting stuck on holiday?
