Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality I purchased 16 4-piece place settings and many serving pieces of this pattern. I am very disappointed with the quality. They are light weight, chip easily, have a poorly glazed finish, and get very hot when heating food in the microwave. I, like the others who have commented, have problems with mold on the bottom of the dishes. The mold does not come off easily (several cycles though the dish washer doesn't help); scrubbing the bottoms by hand is the only way I have found to remove the mold. I'd like to trash these dishes but unfortunately have too much invested in them to do so. I was much happier with my tea rose set that I purchased in 1992. I only purchased the Country Cupboard pattern because I was ready for a change...I am very sorry that I made this change. . April 15, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed This is NOT the quality I expected from Pfaltzgraff!! After only having these 3 months, they are chipped on the rims, the glaze is flaking on the small details, and they do appear to be mildew spotted on the unglazed bottoms. I hand wash, so it is not a dishwasher problem. Also, they are certainly NOT microwave safe. They get incredibly hot and caused minor burns to fingers before we finally remembered not to use them in the microwave. I think it's awful that this product isn't discontinued, the quality is so poor. I don't want replacements at 1/2 the cost, and I didn't keep the boxes because they are a lovely pattern. I'm going to trash these and call it a day. :/ March 22, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Quality I have enjoyed my Pfaatzgraff Tea Rose set for 20 years. I recently replaced them with the Country Cupboard pattern. I noticed how much lighter they were while unpacking them. Within a month I have chipped more of these than I had the Tea Rose in 20 years.. The bowls are poorly designed, scrambling eggs resulted in chipping the inside of 4 bowls and the dishwasher has damage several other pieces. Customer Service told me these are earthen ware not stoneware pieces like the Tea Rose. I think the main difference is the Tea Rose has USA stamped in them and the Country Cupboard has China printed on them. This will be my last Pfatzgraff purchase. October 5, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Chipped & Mold I received these from my mother as a wedding gift about a year ago. About half of the pieces are still in good condition, but the ones that get used most often have chipped in several places. For the past couple of days I've noticed an odd smell coming from the cupboard I keep my dishes in. This morning after breakfast, I decided to try and figure out what it was. Well, when I took all my dishes out and started inspecting them, I discovered mold on the bottom of the dishes on the ring that the sit on. I keep a pretty clean house and we don't have a mold problem anywhere, so I'm not entirely sure where it came from, but the ring they sit on is not covered by enamel, so my only guess is it's from washing them. (I don't have a dishwasher.) On the upside the pattern is beautiful and I really like the dishes. The chips don't even bother me that much, but the mold is another thing. Hopefully I can find a way to get rid of it. September 5, 2012
