October Means
It's Pumpkin
Time!
You know it's October when you start to see pumpkins appear on porches and
front stoops, and in
windows and gardens of
homes across America.
Whether carved into the
most frightening of
Jack-O-Lanterns, or
arranged with gourds and
hay into an inviting
autumn still-life, the
pumpkin is the most
recognizable symbol of
the month that brings to
mind playoff baseball,
homecoming and falling
leaves.
How did all this get started?
What state is
our country's
pumpkin growing
capital? Where
did the idea for
Jack-O-Lanterns
originate?
