The embossed berries of this trivet make it pretty enough to put on a plate stand, while a raised rim bottom keeps heat from direct contact with surfaces. What's really great is you can place it where needed when setting the table and it looks like a decorative touch. One guest actually gasped when I put a steaming hot serving dish on it, not realizing its true purpose. A winner, for sure.
