Exterior cotton covers are quite nice and substantial. Cup chest has sturdy dividers which are easily assembled. Was disappointed initially with the "cushioned dividers" which are all one-size squares and very thin. Was pleasantly surprised when they proved to be quite effective, even for the dinner plates.
I also have vinyl cases for other dishes and wondered if these were worth the additional cost. For fine china, the answer is a definite yes.
