I was very pleased with this pattern. Been wanting Christmas dinnerware for quite some time but it's typically quite pricey. This set is nice in that the price is right and the pattern is beautiful and not "common" like so many other Christmas patterns (Christmas trees, holly, etc). Having never owned Pfaltzgraff I didn't know what to expect. For the price I feared the dishes would be thin and not weighty/sturdy. Not the case. The glazed stoneware has quite a bit of heft and I think these will last a long time. I also like that this comes in a service for 12, which can sometimes be hard to find.
The one thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that some of the pieces, when hand washed in the sink, had some water seepage under the glaze. Not huge amounts, but enough to be noticeable. I was told that was because the "foot" of the dish was unglazed. That didn't make sense to me since the seepage was on the "top/surface" of a few of the plates (and not the underside), and because I have other glazed stoneware that this does not happen to. The seepage areas did ultimately dry completely and are now not visible, but I'm a little concerned about what might happen when saucy food hits the plate. (IE, will that seep under/stain the glaze?) Still, in the 48 pieces it was only a few that had that issue. Because I like the pattern so much and the price was so good, I'm keeping them and hoping for the best with those few pieces.
I also bought gold charger plates to use with these, and they look lovely together!
